At Ineria Management, we have had the satisfaction of serving as VERDE Evaluators for the VERDE 4 Leaves Certification of Metro de Madrid’s headquarters, located on Avenida de Asturias and built over the former Metro depots in Plaza de Castilla.
From the outset, Metro de Madrid demonstrated its commitment to constructing a landmark building that leads in sustainability. As part of this commitment, they launched an architectural competition, which was won by the “Jardín 1” proposal. From the beginning, we integrated with the Jardín 1 team to incorporate sustainability strategies into the project.
Project Objective: creating an NZEB Building
Metro de Madrid’s objective was always clear: to create a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) with low energy consumption and a circular approach to water management, while ensuring a high level of comfort for users. These principles serve as the foundation of its sustainability strategy.
How did we achieve It?
Achieving VERDE Level 4 Certification.
To achieve these objectives, a rigorous energy modeling process was carried out, allowing for the analysis of various strategies to enhance energy efficiency and user comfort. Additionally, circular strategies were integrated regarding water management and project materials.
It was a long-term project involving multiple construction teams. It is highly rewarding to have contributed to coordinating and maintaining the VERDE Certification standards consistently throughout all stages of the project.
We are proud to have contributed to Metro de Madrid’s success in its pursuit of becoming a benchmark in sustainability and to have served as VERDE Evaluators for one of the few buildings certified at the demanding VERDE 4 Leaves level.
