VERDE 4 hojas Certification | Tui/Valença do Minho Police and Customs Cooperation Center

Certificación VERDE 4 hojas

A cross-border public infrastructure that unites sustainability, safety, and international cooperation

The Police and Customs Cooperation Centre of Tui/Valença do Minho, inaugurated in January 2025, has achieved the prestigious VERDE 4 hojas (“4 Leaves”) Certification, standing out as a benchmark in sustainability.

This infrastructure, key for cooperation between Spain and Portugal in matters of public security, combines energy efficiency with a design committed to the environment.

With 1,200 m², the headquarters not only optimises energy use, but also achieves the distinction of a Nearly Zero-Energy Building (NZEB).

This renovation is a clear reflection of both governments’ commitment to security and development, aligning these goals with environmental protection.

Green Certification: A Standard for the Future

Ineria Management has played a key role in implementing strategies that ensure the sustainability of the project.

Thanks to the strategies implemented in energy efficiency, resource management, and occupant well-being, the center has achieved the VERDE certification with the distinction of 4 VERDE hojas.

The project has received outstanding ratings in key sustainability criteria, such as:

  • Site and location: proximity to public transportation, ease of bicycle use, infrastructure for electric vehicle charging, and reduction of the urban heat island effect.
  • Energy and atmosphere: reduction of primary energy consumption, distributed generation, and responsible refrigerant selection.
  • Natural resources: use of recycled and local materials, efficient water management, and minimization of the environmental impact of construction materials.
  • Indoor environment: optimal natural and artificial lighting, noise control, and improvement of air quality.
  • Social aspects: inclusive design, connection with nature, and the creation of open spaces for interaction and communication.
  • Innovation: incorporation of innovative strategies in sustainable design and construction.

Thanks to the integration of these criteria, the Tui/Valença do Minho Police and Customs Cooperation Center stands as a model of efficient, environmentally-friendly public infrastructure.
