AENOR Certification Level 2 | Sustainable Innovation in Housing

Certificación AENOR

In an effort to promote sustainability in the residential sector, a pilot project for AENOR Sustainable Building Certification Level 2 was carried out in collaboration with Pryconsa, a prominent real estate company. This project marked an important milestone by becoming a benchmark for innovation and environmental commitment in the design and construction of housing.

Client’s Objective and Ineria Services

The client’s goal was to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of obtaining the AENOR Sustainable Building Certification Level 2. To achieve this, Ineria provided comprehensive consulting services, ensuring compliance with the sustainability standards set by AENOR.

Key Achievements

The results achieved reflected the commitment of both the consulting team and the client in reaching the highest sustainability standards:

  • AENOR Certification: The project successfully obtained the AENOR Sustainable Building Certification Level 2, validating its commitment to sustainability.
  • Energy Efficiency: A reduction in non-renewable primary energy consumption of over 20% was achieved, highlighting the focus on reducing the use of non-renewable resources.
  • Waste Management: A waste management plan was implemented, aiming to recover at least 75% of the generated waste, promoting the circular economy and reducing environmental impact.
  • Potable Water Consumption: Potable water consumption was reduced by more than 25%, demonstrating a real commitment to water resource conservation.
  • Sustainable Materials: A commitment was made to use materials with low VOC and formaldehyde emissions, ensuring a healthy indoor environment for residents.
  • Comfort and Acoustic Protection: Acoustic comfort was ensured both against external noise and internally generated noise, meeting the requirements of the CTE (Technical Building Code).
  • Climate Change Adaptation: Through dynamic energy simulation, it was confirmed that the building would be prepared to face future climatic conditions, ensuring residents’ comfort and minimizing additional energy consumption.
  • Life Cycle Cost: A Life Cycle Cost calculation was carried out in accordance with the UNE-EN 16627 standard, providing a comprehensive view of the costs associated with the project throughout its useful life.

Strategic Collaboration

The Value of Teamwork

The close collaboration with the client, Pryconsa, was essential to the success of the project. Both Eliana Revenga Contreras and Elena Santacruz De Pedro played an active and crucial role in the process, offering an external perspective that enriched the teamwork and helped refine the methodology.

A Sustainable Future

This pilot project not only sets a new standard of excellence in sustainability for the residential sector, but also highlights the value of collaboration and shared commitment towards a more sustainable future. By integrating principles of energy efficiency, waste management, and acoustic comfort, this project demonstrates that it is possible to build homes that are environmentally friendly and provide quality of life for their residents.
