{"id":4907,"date":"2024-04-30T12:26:45","date_gmt":"2024-04-30T10:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ineriamanagement.com\/csddd-and-its-impact-on-the-real-estate-sector\/"},"modified":"2024-04-30T12:26:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T10:26:45","slug":"csddd-and-its-impact-on-the-real-estate-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ineriamanagement.com\/en\/csddd-and-its-impact-on-the-real-estate-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"CSDDD and its impact on the real estate sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 24, Europe took a significant step towards corporate sustainability with the adoption of the <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/ES\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:52022PC0071\">Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis legislation marks an important milestone in the continent&#8217;s commitment to environmental protection and human rights, and presents a key opportunity for companies in the real estate sector to strengthen their responsible business practices.   <\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Which companies will be affected by CSDDD?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;  The implementation of the CSDDD will have a differentiated impact on different types of companies, both inside and outside the European Union: <strong>European Union companies<\/strong>: the CSDDD will gradually apply mainly to large companies with more than 1,000 employees and an annual turnover of more than 450 million euros.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2027<\/strong>: companies with 5,000 employees and a turnover of at least 1.5 billion euros.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2028<\/strong>: companies with 3,000 employees and 900 million euros.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2029<\/strong>: companies with 1,000 employees and 450 million euros<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Third country companies with activities in the EU: <\/strong>the CSDDD will refer only to their turnover.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2027<\/strong>: will apply to those with a turnover of at least 1.5 billion euros.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2028<\/strong>: will apply to those with a turnover of at least 900 million euros.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2029<\/strong>: will apply to those with a turnover of at least 450 million euros.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): <\/strong>although SMEs are not directly included in the CSDDD proposal, they will be indirectly affected as part of the supply chain.<br \/>\nLarge companies subject to the directive will require their suppliers and business partners to meet the same sustainability standards, which could lead to significant changes in the business practices of SMEs.   <\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Obligations and requirements<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;  Companies affected by the CSDDD shall:<br \/>\n1. develop a due diligence policy that addresses human rights and environmental impacts.<br \/>\n2. Conduct periodic assessments of their operations and supply chains to identify and prevent potential negative impacts.<br \/>\n3. Establish grievance procedures to address potential grievances related to their operations.<br \/>\n4.
